School of Medicine and Dentistry

We offer innovative undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Vision Sciences and Audiology.

Professionally accredited courses

Many courses are accredited and/or approved by professional bodies. These include the General Medical Council, the General Dental Council, the General Optical Council and the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

On-campus clinics

We one of the few universities in the UK with our very own on-campus Dental Clinic. We are fully equipped to give all dental students direct access to practical experience in high-end dental work within the institution.

Vision Sciences students will treat patients in our on-campus Eye Health Clinic. The clinic is equivalent to a high street practice and open to members of the public.

Clinical placements

On some of our courses you'll gain invaluable real-life experience. You'll have the opportunity to take part in in-built or voluntary clinical placements. These could be in urban or rural NHS settings. You'll also be able to interact with our volunteer patient group.

Inter-professional learning

Inter-professional learning sessions are important to courses such as MBBS or Physician Associate. You’ll work alongside students from other professional healthcare programmes. This includes Pharmacy and Nursing. You'll graduate as a well-rounded member of the healthcare team.

Learn while you earn

Many postgraduate courses can be studied part-time or as individual modules with much of the teaching taking place online. This means you can upskill whilst working in your current role.

Patient volunteer programme

We are always looking for willing volunteer patients to take part in student teaching or assessment sessions. Volunteers should be happy to allow students to record their medical histories. They may also carry out physical examinations in some cases.

Volunteers can attend sessions once or twice a year if they wish, or can choose to be more active participants.

Our team

Our supportive teaching staff include clinicians, dental and healthcare professionals with a wealth of experience. Discover more about our academic staff.
