Offer received? Your next steps

Congratulations on your offer, you’re getting closer to the start of your study journey and uni life. We know that for some of you starting university is a big transition, this will be the first time you’ll live away from home. For some of you going to university may be a life decision after possibly taking time away from education. You may be facing many big decisions and we are here to help you every step of the way.

Course choices

Once you’ve received all your offers and decisions from your chosen universities, you must choose two offers to hold as a first (Firm) and second (Insurance choice).
Be sure to take time to consider all your options. If your offers are subject to passing exams, choose ones that are realistically achievable. If we are your first choice University (Firm) and you meet the conditions of our offer, your place will be confirmed via UCAS. If we are your insurance choice University, but you meet the conditions of our offer, your place will also be confirmed via UCAS.

Join us for an applicant day

Following an offer for a course you’ll be invited to an Applicant Day. At our Applicant Days, you’ll discover more reasons why UCLan is a great choice and you’ll leave with a sense of belonging to a caring institution and a vibrant community. You’ll get a real flavour of what it’s like to study your chosen course through interactive tasters, experience our course and service facilities, chat to your tutors, fellow applicants, current students and staff from our support services.

Applicant Days

Starting university can be a big transition and you’ll probably have lots of questions. You may be wondering if you chose the right course or, what study and online skills support is available if you’ve been out of education for some time? You maybe after tips and information on budgeting, timetables, independent learning or safety on campus. You may want to know about student experiences of independent living in our accommodation halls or that of a commuter to the university. You may be concerned whether you’ll ‘fit in’ and what extra-curricular opportunities the Students’ Union has to offer. Keep chatting to current students will help put your mind to ease – every one of them have their own unique stories to tell.

Chat Now

How? Join a Facebook community group. Another means to get a good idea of what to expect from university and a great way to make friends with people before you’ve even arrived. It’s important to share your thoughts and feelings ahead of starting at the university and these community groups provide a safe space to talk to others who are in the same position. You’ll get to chat to fellow applicants in your subject before you arrive and even share resources and ideas. You’ll keep up-to-date with latest news and events from the university and be the first to know about planned events at #UCLanFreshers.
