Frequently asked questions

After you've received your Clearing 2023 offer, there are things you need to do to secure your place at UCLan. This includes accepting your offer and confirming any outstanding results. It may also include applying for accommodation or student finance.

Check out the step by step guidance at the top of this webpage to find out more.

Confirming your Clearing offer can take anything from a few minutes up to enrolment. Usually offers are confirmed within a couple of days. Confirming your place depends on a variety of factors. These factors include your qualifications/results and the course you're applying for.

Once you have received an offer, you will receive an email confirming what you need to do next.

On UCAS, Clearing is open from 5 July to the 17 October. However, the date of last enrolment depends on the university you are applying to study at.

Students who apply through Clearing don't usually start any later than students who applied in the main cycle. The Clearing deadline is Monday 25 September which is the same week as Welcome Week. This means you should not miss any of your important classes. You should still be able to get involved with Welcome Week activities.

Visit our welcome portal for more information on preparing to start at UCLan.

It can take up to six weeks to process your student finance application, so you should apply as soon as possible. If you have already applied but have changed course or university, you need to let Student Finance England know as soon as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, call us on +44 (0)1772 891828 or email student support.

You do still need to meet entry requirements to get a place on a course during Clearing. However, even if you don't think you meet the entry requirements listed on our website, give us a call on +44 (0)1772 830777. We often take into account other things alongside qualifications and may still be able to make you an offer.

If you are unsuccessful in getting a place on a course during Clearing, don't be disheartened. You may wish to consider studying on of our Return to Study programmes. These free six-week short courses will help you make the transition to university study.

Yes, you can get accommodation through Clearing at UCLan. Once our Admissions Team have confirmed your place, you can apply for a place in our halls of residence.

We guarantee a room in halls, on campus, for all new full-time students at our Preston Campus. There are spaces at Burnley and Westlakes too.

Check out our accommodation information above or visit our accommodation webpage.

Visit our Clearing frequently asked questions page. You can also contact us directly by calling +44 (0)1772 830777or emailing Course Enquiries.
