Sport & Exercise Science

This module aims to enhance your knowledge and understanding of contemporary topics in sport and exercise psychology. You’ll develop the skills to assess and appraise the needs within unique performance and exercise environments. And you'll gain the ability to justify the application of contemporary theories and research to these unique contexts.

This module facilitates the development of high level testing and interpretation skills essential for sport and exercise scientists. You’ll explore several laboratory-based measurement techniques used in the field and enhance your ability to read and interpret primary research sources. You'll also apply methodologies in the research of sports science support or health-related fitness screening contexts.

This module aims to further develop your ability to formulate hypotheses and employ a relevant research strategy through effective decision-making. You'll explore all aspects of research, and be encouraged you to apply your academic knowledge to a research programme. You’ll also develop critical evaluation skills for research methods and data analysis, culminating in the opportunity to present your original research in a written report.

This module will provide an introduction to higher level research methods. You will be skilled in a wide range of statistical analysis relevant to Sport, Health & Clinical Sciences. You will learn the peer review process of scientific communication. The module also teaches you how to present work in both paper and non-paper based formats. 

This module will boost your professionalism by developing your understanding of biomechanical testing and data collection techniques. You will be able to process and interpret the collected data in order to present this information clearly with either clinical or performance application.
