Foundation Entry degree courses are designed for students who have the ability to study for a degree, but don’t have the necessary formal qualifications to directly enter their chosen Honours degree programme.
You’ll gain practical experience using state-of-the-art safety engineering techniques. You’ll also gain an understanding of the necessary scientific, engineering and technological principles.
We address the development and application of emerging technologies within the often contradictory constraints of safety, economy and the law.

The skills gained on the Oil and Gas Safety Engineering course equip you for a career as a senior safety specialist in a number of high-hazard industries including oil and gas, product safety engineering, process safety and chemical plants.
As this course is supported by an established research base and continues to demonstrate a strong and co-ordinated industrial link, the content is highly relevant and current, which means our graduates are sought after.
A number of our graduates continue with us on research degrees (MPhil/PhD) studies within the Centre in Fire and Hazards in the areas of fire and explosion safety engineering, fire modelling, computational fluid dynamics and others.
The course is also relevant to occupations such as regulators and insurance assessors.
