We’ve designed a degree to prepare upcoming energy engineers tackle one of society’s most pressing issues - the future security of our energy supply.

Our Energy Engineering course is multi-disciplinary and addresses the key global goals for energy security and meeting the challenges of climate change. You will learn and apply the principles of science and mechanical and electrical engineering towards a sustainable future of energy production, usage and supply.

With the support of our highly-skilled teaching staff, you’ll gain the contemporary skills in technical design, power generation and management you need to increase energy efficiency and further develop conventional and renewable sources of energy.

Our course is designed to be flexible towards your career goals meaning you’ll graduate with the skills, experience and knowledge you need to engineer a sustainable future.

  • Full-time students can take an optional 48-week sandwich placement in industry between Year 2 and Year 3.

Energy Engineering is a growing discipline and graduates are in greater demand than ever, which means your career options within the sector are varied.

This course provides graduates with a broad understanding of current technology and practice with regards to energy, covering the relevant aspects of thermodynamics, technology, sustainability and policy plus additional specialist areas according to the modules studied. The discipline of engineering encompasses a wide skills base and the emphasis of this course is placed on energy systems, their use and design. By concentrating on the principles fundamental to system level design, the course equips graduates with the knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive in the rapidly evolving field of energy engineering and develop the transferrable skills to find employment in a diverse set of industrial and commercial sectors.
