Whether you’re awaiting your exam results, not holding any university offers or have simply decided to return to studying after a gap year or are looking for a career change – give us a call through Clearing. Our team of staff and careers advisors are on hand to discuss with you your options based on your qualifications and/or experience and we’d love for you to study with us this September.

If you’re awaiting your exam results, the University will receive A Level and AS Level results direct from UCAS. If you are taking A Levels, we hope to be able to give a decision to all those who have made the University of Central Lancashire their firm choice on or shortly after 13 August 2020.

If you are not taking A Levels, but are awaiting your final exam results yourself, please email a copy to straight away. Please label the subject heading as Results and ensure you include your name and UCAS Personal ID so we can identify your application quickly and confirm your offer.

Clearing is available between July and September, and is generally used by applicants who have received their exam results, but don’t yet have a university place to find suitable vacancies on higher education university courses. For further information please see UCAS Clearing website.

The Adjustment period gives students who have done better than expected a short period of time to reconsider their options, whilst having the security of holding on to their Unconditional Firm (UF) choice offer. In order to be eligible you must have met and exceeded the conditions of your Firm offer. If that is the case, you will be able to register for Adjustment. You only have a limited five day period in which to use Adjustment which begins on the date your offer becomes Unconditional Firm (UF). For further information please see the UCAS Adjustment website. If you're not technically eligible for Adjustment then don't worry, Clearing may also be an option for you.

We have places on a wide range of courses starting this September. If you’re holding an offer from another university, give us a call first so that you can check whether you want to be released into Clearing.

If you have met the conditions of your offer, but only if you have not been successful at your first choice, then UCAS will notify you that your Insurance Choice place at the University of Central Lancashire has been confirmed. However, check UCAS Track as your Firm Choice university may have accepted you even with different grades.

We may still be able to accept you on to the degree course for which you originally applied even if you don’t meet all the conditions of your offer. We will make these decisions as quickly as possible and will update the status of your application on UCAS Track as soon as we are able to do so.

If the University cannot accept you onto your original course choice, we may be able to offer you an alternative course such as one of our Foundation Entry courses. If this is the case, we will email you to let you know, and you will also see this on UCAS Track. You must accept or decline the offer via UCAS Track within five days. If you accept it, information about registration will be sent to you and your first choice accommodation guarantee will still stand.

If we are unable to offer you a place, or you decline an offer for an alternative course, you will be released to take up your insurance place or enter Clearing.

If you have not received all of your results, please don’t worry! You should email as soon as you receive your missing results. Please indicate clearly that the email relates to missing results in the subject heading and ensure you include your name and UCAS Personal ID so we can identify your application quickly.

If you have received your results and are waiting for a re-mark, please note that this will need to be entered as a priority re-mark. You do not need to contact the University until the outcome of the re-mark is known.

All conditions of your offer must be met and received by the University by 7 September 2020. After this date decisions on whether or not to accept applicants are at the University’s discretion and depend on the availability of places.

If you would like to defer entry and start your course in September 2021, please email confirmation to indicating clearly in the subject line of the message that your enquiry relates to deferred entry. You should also include your full name and UCAS Personal ID.

Similarly if you are holding an offer for deferred entry and now wish to come in 2020 instead, you will need to put the request in writing, quoting your UCAS Personal ID, full name, the course name and detail the reason you wish to change your year of entry, to the Admissions Office at We will then consider the request depending on the availability of places.

If you decide that you do not wish to take up your place at the University of Central Lancashire and would like to be released into Clearing so you can seek a place at another institution, you are able to self-release via your UCAS track. Log in to UCAS

If you decide that you do not wish to take up your place and no longer wish to study at any university in the UK, then we will need to receive confirmation of this from you in writing. Please email indicating clearly in the subject line of the message that your enquiry relates to withdrawal of your place. You should also include your full name, UCAS Personal ID and reason for your decision.

If you have received an offer from us, we will send you an email with further information about what to do next. Please follow the information detailed within the email carefully.

Clearing: Log on to UCAS Track to accept your place by clicking the 'Add Clearing choice' button and entering the course details and institution code (C30),

Adjustment: Ensure that you have registered for Adjustment in your UCAS Track and reply to our email confirming your acceptance. We can then make the necessary change on UCAS for you.

Once your place at UCLan has been confirmed and accepted, you will be able to make accommodation arrangements. Please visit our Welcome Portal to start researching the accommodation we offer here at UCLan. When you apply, make sure you have your UCLan registration number handy as you will need this at the point of application. For data protection reasons, the University is only able to discuss your situation with you once you provide us with your UCAS Personal ID. This will allow us to identify your application and ensure that we are talking to the correct person.

We do prefer to talk to you personally, but in some cases you might have asked your parents or another third party to ring on your behalf. In these circumstances, the person will need to be registered as the nominated contact with UCAS and we will ask for another form of identification from them, as well as your UCAS Personal ID.

Once you have confirmed and accepted your offer, head over to our Welcome Portal and follow the handy checklist to prepare for your arrival at UCLan. You will also receive lots of important emails from us over the next few days so keep checking your inbox and junk folder for details, and respond as soon as possible.

If it’s been a few hours since you contacted us, please bear with us! We receive a huge amount of applications during Clearing and our team are busy making their way through the offers as quickly as possible.

Keep checking UCAS Track for details but if you still haven’t received anything from us via email or on UCAS Track within 24 hours please do get in touch. It may simply be that we have your incorrect personal details and we are unable to send your offer. Please email clearly stating your name, offer received and UCAS Personal ID number.
