The University of Central Lancashire basketball programme is open to players of all levels. Compete in the BUCS Leagues, train with the team or play recreationally.
Craig Wright - Men's head performance coach
Craig is an highly experienced, Level 3 Basketball coach who has coached the University basketball team for over 13 years. Under Craig’s leadership, both the Men’s and Ladies Basketball teams have progressed from competing at the bottom of the BUCS premier up to almost the highest tier, 1A.
Craig has previously coached at and played at Junior and Men’s national league and British college’s competitions.
Craig is also a Senior Lecturer in Sports Coaching and Performance Analysis. Craig works closely with a number of professional and semi-professional teams to help develop performance within football, rugby league, basketball, swimming, tennis and athletics. As course leader for the MSC in Elite Coaching Practice, Craig works as coach educator supporting Elite Basketball Coaches currently on the UKCC Level 4 coaching certificate.

UCLan's basketball club has over 50 members with opportunities to play at all levels of ability from recreational, 2nd team and high level performers with the Men’s 1st team and Ladies 1st Team.
The Men’s 1st team have spent 5 years competing in BUCS Northern 1A, finishing 2nd in 2014 and a respective 3rd place in 2015 and 2016.
The University has put together an extensive training schedule and support package to help support and attract committed basketball players.
The Men’s basketball programme also links directly with Preston Pride Basketball Men’s National Basketball Team for providing additional training and competition in National League tier 2.
Monday: 8-10pm - Men's 1st Team, National League Training and Monday Team Conditioning
Wednesday: 6-8pm - BUCS Fixtures or BUCS Team Training
Thursday: 5-6pm - Thursday Team Conditioning
Friday: 6-8pm BUCS Men's 1st Team and National League Training
Saturday: 1-3pm National League Fixture (away)
Sunday: 1-3pm National League Fixture (home)
On Sundays where there are no fixtures, individual practice and conditioning will take place.
Additional training support will be provided with Dates/times identified by the coach.

UCLan is also a Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) institution, which means we are one of 37 delivery sites across the country that are recognised for their profile, experience and reputation associated with performance sport delivery.
Where you'll train
All basketball training and matches take place at the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre. Our multi-million pound, state-of-the-art, purpose built indoor facility is located at our Preston Campus. STFSC offers a range of activities from UCLan Students' Union sports clubs to instructor led classes and individual gym areas.
