UCLan is very proud of its relationship with its network of key, strategic, overseas partners and has over 3,500 students studying UCLan programmes overseas. Our partnerships go from strength to strength, together developing and providing leading-edge courses to equip students with the knowledge and skills to succeed in the global market. Awards Ceremonies for 330 graduating students took placed in Hong Kong and Vietnam in October.
265 students graduated from Fire related programmes, International Business Communication, English for International Corporate Communication and English for Professional Purposes.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor/Vice-President Graham Baldwin officiated at the ceremony, together with Dr Louis Ma, Acting Director of SCOPE. On this occasion, UCLan was delighted to confer an Honorary Fellowship on Dr Raymond Ho, Technical Adviser of the Institution of Fire Engineers (Hong Kong Branch), for his outstanding contribution to the Fire Service, development, and internationalisation of Higher Education and collaboration between SCOPE, the Institution of Fire Engineers and University of Central Lancashire.

The first awards ceremony with our prestigious partner, Vocational Training Council, one of the largest providers of higher education in Hong Kong, took place on 29 October at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Hong Kong. This ceremony saw the first cohort of students graduate from the BA (Hons) Advertising and Marketing Communications, the Lancashire Business School’s programme, delivered in Hong Kong by VTC’s School for Higher and Professional Education. Dr Graham Baldwin, Deputy-Vice-Chancellor (UCLan), and Dr Lillian Wong, Principal, SHAPE, officiated at the event.
UCLan and SHAPE were delighted to welcome to the event, Ms Susan Tse, Director of Programmes of the British Council, Hong Kong, who gave an inspiring speech to the graduates, parents, and guests.
Although a relatively new partnership, the relationship is going from strength to strength and is set to expand significantly next year with other Schools, to offer BEng (Hons) Building Services and Sustainable Engineering, BSc (Hons) Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying, BA (Hons) Sports Business Management, BA (Hons) Sports Coaching, BA (Hons) Management in Events and BSc (Hons) Policing and Criminal Investigation.
University of Hanoi, Vietnam
On 31 October, the first Awards Ceremony with Hanoi University took place in Hanoi, for graduates of the MSc Information Systems Design, part of the School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences’ portfolio of current and relevant courses designed to meet the needs of the sector. President Luan, HanU and Graham Baldwin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, UCLan, officiated at the event, which was also attended by Mr Chris Brown, Director of the British Council, Hanoi.
The event also incorporated an ‘Opening Ceremony’ to welcome the new cohort of students who are about to embark on the MSc Information Systems Design at HanU and were given an inspiring and encouraging speech by one of the graduating students.
