Moving out

Preparing for university

Making friends

We know a lot of students worry about making friends at uni. UCLan do everything we can to facilitate opportunities to meet new people. We host a range of welcome events to help break the ice. The Student's Union also have lots of clubs and societies, covering a range of interests and hobbies. These can be a great way to meet new people and strike up friendships. 

Cost of living

We understand that money is a real concern for our students. That's why we've set up our cost of living hub. If finances become a serious concern, then Student Support can help. We also have a range of bursaries and scholarships available. Check out some of our student tips on how to budget and save money.

Preston is the most affordable student city (The Times, 2023). There are lots of things that we do to help students with the cost of living, including financial support. Check out our cost of living support hub for more advice.

Support services

If you are struggling with the transition to university, our Student Support services are here to help. We have a great team who can help with everything from mental health and wellbeing issues, to applying for visas. If you're having financial problems, we also have specialist support to assist including emergency food vouchers.
