Placement provider training opportunities

We support continuous learning. Discover opportunities we have available for our placement providers to undergo relevant training and development.

We also hold regular meetings with the medicine placements team and our placement providers. These allow the opportunity to ask any questions from the whole team whether it is financial or clinical.

We offer postgraduates courses with a 50% reduction in fees for our placement providers. Explore our Postgraduate courses.

UCLan also host external speakers and you are invited to these events.

We have a whatsapp group for any queries and sharing of ideas and all providers are invited to join this group.

There is a dedicated team of GP Tutors who have responsibility for practices within a geographical area so you have a named contact if needed.

Wellbeing and professionalism

In this section you'll discover what you need to do if you have concerns about a student's wellbeing.

Monitoring of professional behaviour within the School of Medicine

The reporting of events, incidents and behaviour, (both positive and negative), is an essential part of a high quality, professional system. We want our students to be comfortable working within a system that uses feedback in order to promote reflection and personal development.

We hope that all our providers will work with us in this regard and actively participate in the notification processes. Please note that there have been some significant changes to this process for the coming academic year. There is now a two tier system for the notification of concerns relating to a student’s professionalism.

Professionalism lapse form

Professionalism Development Opportunity (PDO) - Low level concerns about a student’s professionalism, behaviour or attitude.

Professionalism lapse - more serious concerns, including issues relating to probity and honesty, should be notified using this form.

Wellbeing and safety form

Concerns about the welfare, safety or wellbeing of a student or staff member.

Positive feedback

Recognition of positive events, behaviour or conduct can be made using this form

If you have any acute concerns for a student’s wellbeing, mental health or safety please do not hesitate to email us or call The UCLan Counselling, Mental Health and Wellbeing team on 01772 893020.

Both email and voicemail are monitored from 09:00 - 21:00 Monday to Friday and from 10:00-18:00 on Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays.

For the student to access support, they can complete an online referral form via the Student Hub.

Safety, wellbeing, mental health, inclusive support, counselling

If there is an emergency that requires immediate assistance from UCLan, please contact UCLan Security on 01772 892068, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and they will contact our out of hours advisors or on call manager.
