English language requirements

Entry Requirements

UCLan Programme Minimum Entry Qualification Minimum English Language requirements
Undergraduate – Year 0 - 72 tariff points  West African School Certificate or Senior School Certificate with Grade C/D profile
Ordinary National Diploma - pass
West African School Certificate English grade C6 (equates to WASSCE C6)
Or
Standard English language entry requirements - IELTS 6.0 or equivalent
Undergraduate - Year 1 entry
112 tariff points
WASSC/SSCE/WAHSC Grade B/C profile or
WASSC/SSCE/WAHSC  plus successful completion of recognised foundation programme or successful completion of the first year of a recognised university degree
Ordinary National Diploma, Lower Credit
WAEC / WASSCE English grade  (equates to WASSCE C6)
Or
Standard English language entry requirements – IELTS 6.0 or equivalent
Masters GPA of 2.5/4 in degree
Classification 2:2 (50% or above) from KNUST
Lower GPA and ‘Postgraduate Diploma’  (Ghanaian Pre-Masters)
Higher National Diploma and ‘Postgraduate Diploma’
WAEC / WASSCE English grade C6
Or
SSCE grades A-D (when studied between 1993-2005 – refer to Admissions Manager on case by case basis if grade D)
Or
Standard English language entry requirements – IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

If your academic and/or English language qualifications are not sufficient to allow for direct entry to one of our undergraduate or postgraduate taught programmes, you may wish to consider one of our Undergraduate or Master Foundation Programmes, offered at UCLan by ONCampus. Successful completion of this programme can guarantee entry to a wide range of programmes at UCLan.

The University of Central Lancashire has a wide range of Scholarships and Bursaries available for international students. Below are the criteria for the award of the Merit and Excellence Scholarship.

Merit Scholarship criteria OND Credit
or
65% in recognised foundation
WASSC/SSCE/WAHSC Grade B profile
GPA 2.8 or Second Class Upper Division
Excellence Scholarship criteria OND Higher Credit
or
75% in recognised foundation
WASSC/SSCE/WAHSC Grade A profile
GPA 3.5 or 1st Class Honours Degree

Please note that these scholarships are not available for MBBS programme; distance learning programmes, Pre-Sessional Programmes or Postgraduate Research Programmes.
