Veterinary Educational Memorial Programme (EMP)

School of Veterinary Medicine

As veterinary professionals, we understand that losing a pet is challenging. Our Educational Memorial Programme is your opportunity to contribute to veterinary education.

Could you find solace in the loss of your dog by ensuring their legacy betters the future for other dogs?

The Educational Memorial Programme is a way for you to honour the memory of your dog, whilst also making a lasting contribution to veterinary education. Future vets who are training at The University of Central Lancashire's School of Veterinary Medicine use animal bodies as an essential part of their training, much like medical students learn from bequeathed human bodies. Your dog could allow them to advance their knowledge and experience, and become a highly skilled vet. Their legacy will be providing expert care to future generations of beloved pets.

Supporting the next generation

Donating Mathilda’s body supports the education of the next generation of veterinary surgeons. It means that they learn authentically and respectfully, and that no animals are needlessly euthanised for use in veterinary education. The Educational Memorial Programme highlights the compassion and generosity of spirit that pet owners have. I am thankful to be able to share those lessons with our students, to support their education, and to inspire them to go out into the world as veterinary professionals who will advocate for the good welfare of all animals, and who genuinely value the bond that we all share with the animals in our lives.”
