You should prepare for your Open Day before you visit so you can get the most out of your experience. We've put together some information below to help you plan your day.

Key steps to get the most out of your Burnley Open Day
Our compact Burnley Campus is easily accessible by car or public transport. Visit our getting to Burnley Campus page for directions and travel advice to help you find us.
If you're travelling by car, you can park in our University car park. Alternatively, Burnley town centre has a number of car parks you can use on a pay and display basis.
If you’re travelling by car, you can park for free on our University car parks listed below:
- Victoria Mill (BB11 1RA)
- Sandygate Mill (BB11 1RN)
Alternatively, Burnley town centre has a number of car parks you can use on a pay and display basis.
On arrival please head to Victoria Mill to check-in and pick up your Open Day campus map.
We've highlighted key buildings on our Open Day campus map to help you get around.
If you're unsure of where to go, our dedicated staff and student ambassadors will be available to guide you.
Our check-in point is in Victoria Mill and opens at 9.45am, but you can check-in throughout the day.. Have your QR code ready to scan and don’t forget to bring your Open Day programme.
Help yourself to free hot and cold drinks at our Victoria Mill café throughout the day. There will also be complimentary dirty fries and ice creams available.
Whether you already know what you want to study or are still uncertain, there are many opportunities to explore and gather all the information you need.
Subject talks and tours
Our subject talks will give you everything you need to know about your course. Each session lasts about 30 minutes, and you can attend as many as you like.
Some subjects offer a tour of the facilities you’ll use on the course, a tour of the department or a tour of student work.
Subject stands
Don’t worry if you miss a subject talk, you can head to our subject stands between 10.00am - 2.00pm.
Drop-in and meet our expert tutors and current students. It's a great opportunity to have a one-to-one chat and ask any questions about your course and the overall student experience.
You'll be able to talk to academic tutors on the courses you're interested in. You can have discussions about the course and find out whether it's right for you.
Our current students can’t wait to show you around. We also have talks throughout the day on a range of topics from our Student Support Teams.
Campus tours
Our Campus Tours take place throughout the day, departing downstairs in Victoria Mill (the last tour is at 1.30pm and takes approx. 30 minutes).
Personal statement help
Applying to start a new course can feel daunting but we are here to help. If you want help with your personal statement, you can talk to one of our personal statement experts at our stand at any time.
CV writing and interview skills
There are CV writing and interview skills workshops throughout the day, hosted by Training 2000. Get useful advice and tips on how to write a CV that will help get you noticed and how you can impress in interviews.
Our Student Support services can help you get the most out of university life. Meet our friendly teams in Victoria Mill, available 10.00am - 2.00pm. They’ll be happy to answer your questions.
The Students' Union will be available to chat to you in Sandygate Mill from 10.00am - 2.00pm. You can find out how to get involved in societies, clubs and volunteering.
Chat to our friendly students. They're easy to spot as they'll be wearing red. They'll be happy to answer any questions you have about life at University.
Degree Apprenticeships
Our Degree Apprenticeship courses have been developed with leading businesses across the North West and using government standards, so you’ll be able to gain in-demand skills and advance your career.
Come and talk to our Degree Apprenticeship Team in the Victoria Mill Social Space between10.00am and 2.00pm. Find out more about our courses and the opportunities available.
Training 2000 have an excellent reputation for delivering apprenticeship preparation programmes and apprenticeships and have opportunities available across the North West in a range of sectors.

If you're looking to take the next step in your academic career, you can find out more about our postgraduate courses at the subject stands in Victoria Mill.
Our range of subjects and study modes and support your goals. We have postgraduate courses available in business, computing, health, nursing and psychology.
Our halls of residence in Burnley offers great value for money and is located in the heart of the town centre. Sandygate Halls is owned by Burnley Borough Council, with the University providing the day-to-day services.
Sandygate has 136 en-suite bedrooms, within 29 flats. Most flats have four or five bedrooms.
All bedrooms are modern and of a good size, featuring a small double bed, notice boards, study desk and chair, chest of drawers, wardrobe and a waste bin. Each en-suite has a personal shower, wash basin and toilet.
Each flat has a communal kitchen, which is well-equipped with a dining table and chairs, cooker, fridges, freezers, microwave, kettle, toaster, and plenty of cupboard space.
There is a student hub social area, which features flexible working space and comfortable seating and a flat screen TV.
Accommodation tours
Starting at 10.00am, guided tours of Sandygate Halls take place every 30 minutes leaving from the main entrance of the building. The last tour begins at 1.30pm
