Our Building Services and Sustainable Engineering, BEng (Hons) Degree Apprenticeship looks at the comfort and safety of people inside buildings whilst also tackling the priority issues associated with energy use and its conservation.

Who is this course for?
We are looking for able and motivated, high-calibre students from within UK or overseas. This course will equip you with a thorough understanding of building services design and engineering principles and practices.
Building Services Design Engineers manage a team of engineers and technicians, collaborating with other construction professionals to design the various services found in buildings and infrastructure projects.
You will explore renewable and emerging technologies, energy management, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, drainage, lighting, power, water services, building management systems, life-safety systems, communications and building transportation, eg lifts in the context of new builds and refurbishment.
You’ll consider business, client and end user needs while working within financial and safety constraints. And you’ll employ current and emerging technologies to produce innovative solutions for development, manufacture and construction.
What you'll do
- You’ll develop the knowledge and understanding needed to maintain and manage applications of current and developing technology in sustainable building services design, construction, control and operations.
- The course and its hands-on experience provide a base for future progression to Chartered Engineer status.
- You’ll be tutored by world-class academics with both industry and research experience.

Professional qualifications
On completion, you will have fully satisfied the requirements for registration as an Incorporated Engineer by the relevant professional engineering institution.
Information for employers
An apprentice is employed to do a real job while studying for a formal qualification, usually for one day a week at one of our campuses or training centres.
This course meets Apprenticeship Standards and your apprentice will have the knowledge and skills to either succeed in their chosen career or progress to the next apprenticeship level.

- If your payroll is under £3m, you don’t need to pay the Apprenticeship Levy. However, you can get funding towards the cost of training and assessment of apprentices. You only pay 5% - the government will co-fund the other 95% (up to the funding band maximum).
