Who is this course for?
This course is for health care practitioners who want to become advanced clinical practitioners. It’s a role that combines expert clinical skills with research, education and clinical leadership within their scope of practice.

Entry requirements
- Have a first degree (2:2 class or above) or equivalent, in a relevant subject (i.e. health related, pure science or social science) from an approved institution of higher education
- If you do not meet these criteria, you are advised to contact the course leader for advice
- Have a current professional registration with a relevant professional/statutory body, such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health and Care Professions Council, General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain
- Have, normally, at least three years post registration clinical experience in practice OR proof of equivalent experience in practice
- Be working in, or able to access a practice environment that will enable them to meet and achieve the course learning outcomes
- Have identified a work-based mentor/mentors, who will support and guide your development throughout the course
- Your application will be considered on its merits, and in the light of the nature and scope of the programme.
This course will involve you working with vulnerable groups of individuals, this may include children. In order to ensure that the University offers places on their programmes to suitable candidates you will be required to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance (formerly termed CRB).

Information for employers
An apprentice is employed to do a real job while studying for a formal qualification, usually for one day a week at one of our campuses or training centres.
This course meets Apprenticeship Standards and your apprentice will have the knowledge and skills to either succeed in their chosen career or progress to the next apprenticeship level.
