Gerrie Byrne - Academic Staff

Gerrie specialises in teaching radio and television for sports journalism students. Her expertise is in producing content for news, sport and factual programmes. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Gerrie has experience of producing tv programmes based in the studio, with news and other factual programming for current affairs, sport, politics and religion. She has also directed and filmed network documentaries. Her programmes have won a number of Royal Television Society awards in the North West. The international programmes she worked on were commissioned by Discovery USA and PBS in new York.

Gerrie continues to freelance for the BBC at Media City in Salford, mainly on Sports News.
