Welcome all of our new Degree Apprentices and their employers joining the University. This page contains information for before you arrive and for your first few days at the University.
Funding your studies
All your course fees will be paid by your employer and/or the government depending on the size of your company. Whilst an apprentice, you must not apply for a student loan from Student Finance England, as if you did this, it would mean that the Government would no longer pay for your apprenticeship course and, therefore, you would not be able to continue with the course. If you require any assistance of advice regarding fees or invoices please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Receiving your copy of agreement
As a degree apprentice you should have an employment contract and an apprenticeship agreement with your employer covering at least the duration of your studies and will receive a copy of the Universities agreement with your employer and an individual commitment statement between your employer, the University and yourself. If you require any assistance or advice regarding these agreements please contact email@example.com.
Order your University ID
Your UCLan ID card acts as your official University identification, allowing you access to the Library, register your attendance at classes and other services. Order your UCLan ID card by uploading a photo using our online photograph service. Your student card will be sent to your home address, if you complete this action 1 week prior to your course start date.
Validate your email address
The first time we received your email address, we sent a request asking you to confirm we were using the correct address. We need you to click the confirm link included, otherwise we can't send you secure information such as your network username and password. If you haven't seen this request, and you've checked your inbox and junk mail, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Check your online timetable
Once you have your network username and password. Log on to your Student Portal and click on 'weekly timetable' where you'll find details of your classes and lectures once teaching begins. Don't worry if your teaching timetable isn't showing when you first log on. Keep checking back - it should be populated on an ongoing basis.
We strongly advise to ensure both your MMR and Meningitis ACWY vaccinations are up to date before you begin university. Measles is caused by a very infectious virus and can cause rashes, high fevers and can lead to very serious complications in adults. Untreated meningitis can cause life-threatening blood poisoning and result in permanent damage to the brain or nerves. Contact your local GP surgery and arrange an appointment.
Become an ambassador
We are committed to Degree Apprenticeships, employers, and apprentices to provide a high quality learning experience. We would welcome your feedback and are actively seeking Apprentice ambassadors for the University and to represent Lancashire at a national level. Please email email@example.com if you are interested in being an ambassador or have any feedback on your experience at UCLan.
