Athena Swan

The Athena SWAN project aims to address issues around gender and diversity within Higher Education. It is an accreditation scheme administered by the Equality Challenge Unit. The University of Central Lancashire was awarded Bronze status in April 2014

In April 2015 the Athena SWAN agenda broadened to incorporate all schools within the university, service and support staff and go beyond gender into other diversity issues. The University is now progressing the action plan and working on Department Awards for the Faculties.

Athena Swan Charter

The Athena Swan Charter is a framework which is used across the globe to support and transform gender equality within higher education (HE) and research. Established in 2005 to recognise the commitment to advancing the careers of women, the Charter is now being used across the globe.
