If you’re interested in how the human body functions then you’ll love our Physiology and Pharmacology (Foundation Year) course. We’ll equip you with a solid foundation in scientific knowledge and prepare you to take on a full honours degree.

What you'll do

  • Enhance your practical skills with a variety of hands-on Biology and Chemistry laboratory sessions and Physics workshops.
  • If you progress onto the full degree, you’ll have the chance to go an optional sandwich placement year and gain valuable industry experience.
  • You can use this foundation year as an opportunity to get to know other foundation students on different science-based degree programmes.

This BSc (Hons) Physiology and Pharmacology is the ideal degree if you’re looking to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry – drug testing, drug research, drug design and development. 

Entry requirements

We will consider your educational achievements, predicted grades, work experience and personal statement. If you don't meet the grades for your chosen course, we will consider you for other programmes.

To progress from Foundation Year to Year 1 of the Physiology and Pharmacology degree you’ll need to achieve an average overall grade of 60%. 

  • UCAS: 64 points at A2 including Chemistry or Biology or Environmental science or Applied Science
  • BTEC Extended Diploma: MPP including science
  • BTEC Diploma: MM including science
  • Pass Access Course: 64 UCAS points including science
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma: Pass with 64 points from Higher Level Subjects including science
  • T Level - P (D or E) in Science or Healthcare Science
  • IELTS: 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5
  • GCSEs: 5 at grade C/4 including Maths and English
