Research summary

Project title: Mental health of UK firefighters

Recent studies show that rates of depression among UK firefighters are nearly three times that of the general population. Additionally, firefighters suffer anxiety at a rate over twice that of the general population, with a slightly higher proportion of firefighters reporting any mental health condition compared to the general population. Support for mental health and focus on mental health interventions is urgently required in UK Fire and Rescue Services.
