Sarah is Module Leader for NU2213 (Acute Body Systems) and teaches on various modules within the pre-registration nursing division including an optional module in Dementia care. Sarah is a Home Group Tutor and Cohort Leader. She is a member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Sarah is a NMC Registered Nurse & NMC Nurse Tutor and teaches across a wide range of modules within the pre-registration division.

Full Profile

Sarah Shillitoe is a lecturer within the pre-registration nursing division, School of Health. Prior to taking up her current position, Sarah held a number of posts at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in a variety of medical specialties including, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Respiratory, Endocrinology, and Care of the Elderly. Her Final post was Ward Manager of a large multi-disciplinary Stroke Unit. During her time as a ward nurse Sarah was heavily involved in the development of students, being a mentor and sign off mentor, as well as developing a range of student support tools and training packages.

Sarah has a special interest in patient safety and the fundamentals of nursing care in acute hospital settings. Whilst at Blackpool she played a key role in improving patient’s nutrition as part of the ‘nutrition mission’ and also in significantly reducing pressure ulcers through a leadership role in the pressure ulcer improvement node.

Sarah is herself a graduate of the School of Nursing at UCLan, completing both her Diploma and Degree in adult nursing at the University. Sarah has continued her education with UCLan and graduated with an MEd in December 2015. Sarah is currently working towards her Doctorate in Education (EdD).
