Subject Areas: The Outdoors
Rosemary has a background in coaching outdoor activities, using the outdoors as a medium for teaching / learning, and coach education. This has been in a variety of LEA centres, commercial centres, and the National Mountain Centre.
Rosemary teaches across a range of subjects, but in particular those associated with teaching and learning, coaching and environmental issues in outdoor activities. Rosemary is also the joint course leader on the blended version of the BA Outdoor (Leadership) top up degree. With a background in working the outdoor industry, Rosemary has experience in a range of outdoor activities, with her experience ranging from climbing in the Alps and Norway, mountaineering in the Himalayas and South America, Kayaking in Europe and Nepal, and Canoeing on extended expeditions in Canada and Sweden. Rosemary continues to be active in the outdoors; sea kayaking and walking in remote Scotland and is an aspirant wave sailor and surfer. Rosemary’s research interests are in teaching and learning, with her current doctoral research being into the development of critical thinking.
