Jean teaches across the Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management programmes, currently leading modules in Consultancy, International Corporate Hospitality Management and Management Development. She has a wealth of relevant experience in Higher Education, Recruitment Consultancy, Public Relations and Corporate Training, having also worked at Senior Management level in UK Regional Tourism Boards and the International Convention sector.

Employment History

Before joining the University, initially in 1996, as a lecturer and programme leader, Jean was Director at Greater Glasgow Tourist Board and Convention Bureau with responsibility for all Visitor Services and for the successful completion of a £2 million visitor centre development in the heart of the city. Prior to this, she was the Public Relations and Training Officer for Cumbria Tourism, working closely with public and private sector organisations to promote the region. Her early career was spent in Manchester, initially as a consultant for an independent tour operator, specialising in the USA and Canada, and then as a Recruitment Consultant with an established client list including international legal, accountancy and P.R. firms plus Manchester Airport and Granada Television.

More recently, Jean has also worked for two other Higher Education Institutions as a Senior Lecturer and course leader, specialising in Tourism Destination Strategy and International Corporate Events, additionally developing a successful Events Management undergraduate programme.  She returned to UCLAN in 2015 as a part time member of the academic staff team within the Division of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management (THE). In addition to leading modules for second and final year students, Jean provides a monitoring and quality support role for THE modules delivered in Cyprus.
