After fourteen years working as a civil engineering practitioner in Sierra Leone, Godfaurd migrated to the UK. He enrolled in further education and graduated with an MSc in structures & project management, and a PhD on construction site safety. Godfaurd is an academic and faculty at UCLan, imparting his knowledge and skills to train the next generation of civil engineers ‘without borders’. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Civil Engineering course at UCLan and is currently a senior lecturer in the school of engineering.
Godfaurd is a graduate member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, the CIB working group in health and safety management and a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Since graduating as a civil engineer, Godfaurd held a number of positions embracing consultancy, contracting, and education and training. He worked for a consulting firm of civil engineers for eight years, before working as a contractor for a further six years. After obtaining his doctorate, he held a research fellowship position at Reading university for six and a half years, before joining University of Central Lancashire, as a faculty in teaching and learning in the school of built and natural environment. Godfaurd is research active within the area of built environment and sustainability.
