Dr Abhay Vaidya has nearly 30 years of experience in teaching medical undergraduates, postgraduates as well as other allied healthcare professionals in the UK and overseas. Dr Vaidya has also been an examiner for the UK undergraduate and postgraduate medical examinations. Amongst other things, he has been a GMC Associate since 2005 and has several publications in peer reviewed journals to his credit.

Full Profile

Dr Vaidya studied medicine in the Goa Medical College, one of the oldest medical schools in India. He practised as a consultant anaesthetist in India, the Gulf and the UK. Throughout his career, Dr Vaidya has been actively involved in the training and teaching of medical as well as allied healthcare workers. He is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and Member of the Academy of Medical Educators (MAcadMEd)

Over these years, Dr Vaidya has held several teaching and non-teaching posts. Presently, he is a member of the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons of England for ICMRCS Examinations in the UK and overseas.

Dr Vaidya has several publications in the peer-reviewed journals and has many poster/oral presentations at several national and international conferences. He is also involved in teaching of overseas and asylum seeking doctors.

Dr Vaidya is a member of UCLan Creative Communities Group (CCG) and also of the National Forum for Health & Wellbeing. He is actively involved in the organisation of community health fairs (Health Melas) and supports UCLan medical and other students to carry out voluntary health promotion and health assessments within the community.
