Dr Abhay Vaidya is a passionate teacher. He has taught medical undergraduate, postgraduate and other allied healthcare professionals in the U and /overseas for nearly 30 years. He is an experienced examiner for the UK undergraduate and postgraduate medical as well as nursing programmes. He was a GMC Associate for over 10 years and has several publications in peer reviewed journals. He is a Member of Academy of Medical Educators and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and the Royal College of Anaesthetists.

Full Profile

Dr Vaidya studied medicine in the Goa Medical College, India. He practised as a consultant anaesthetist in India, the middle east and the UK. Throughout his career, Dr Vaidya has been actively involved in the training and teaching of medical and allied healthcare workers. He is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and Member of the Academy of Medical Educators (MAcadMEd). He also holds qualification in medical education.

During his career, Dr Vaidya has held several teaching and non-teaching posts. Presently, he is a member of the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons of England for ICMRCS Examinations in the UK and overseas.

Dr Vaidya has several publications in the peer-reviewed journals and has many poster/oral presentations at national and international conferences. He is also involved in teaching of overseas and asylum seeking doctors.

Dr Vaidya is a member of UCLan Creative Communities Group (CCG) and the National Forum for Health & Wellbeing. He is actively involved in the organisation of community health fairs (Health Melas) and supports UCLan medical and other students to carry out voluntary health promotion and health assessments within the community.
