School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences

We aim to make a difference in the world of science and healthcare. Our well-qualified and accessible staff are committed to supporting students and providing the very best in modern, research-informed science education.

As a student, you will also benefit from industry-standard facilities, including leading-edge science laboratories with access to fantastic resources to support your learning. As part of our programme of ongoing investment, we have spent over £500K equipping our state-of-the-art pharmaceutics laboratory facilities, as well of the introduction of our new £14-million purpose-built JB Firth Building. We have also recently completed a £250k refurbishment of the Pharmacy Practice Suite.

Patient and public engagement

We work in collaboration with Comensus, a service user and carer group who help to inform students by sharing their personal healthcare experiences. This gives the students first-hand experience and knowledge which grows in complexity as they progress through the years. The patients focus on their conditions, treatment, experiences within the health care profession and the adjustments they have had to make to their lifestyles. They also help to design and develop the curriculum, help with assessment and recruitment of new students. This integration enhances the students understanding and allows them to become more patient centred practitioners.
