Just six miles north of our Preston Campus you’ll find University Centre Myerscough, one of our partner institutions and an Associate School of the University.
Set in 1,500 acres of superb countryside, you’ll benefit from a range of facilities including a state-of-the-art Veterinary Nursing Centre, two commercial farms and the International Equestrian Centre. There are also engineering and motorsport workshops, award-winning gardens, the Animal Studies Centre, the National Arboricultural Centre, plus sports pitches, a golf course, two indoor sports academies and a sector-leading Food and Farming Innovation and Technology Centre. There’s a dedicated Higher Education centre and on-site residential accommodation for 750 students, with around 1,000 Higher Education learners enrolled on degree courses validated by the University of Central Lancashire.
The National Student Survey (NSS) 2018 has ranked Myerscough amongst the highest rated land-based and sports-focused colleges in the UK. In addition, the Teaching Excellence Framework awarded Myerscough its prestigious TEF Gold Award in 2018 for the quality of education and support it provides. The College has helped launch the careers of many professionals such as Premier League footballers and coaches, agricultural nutritionists, conservation experts, equine analysts, Formula One motorsport technicians, commercial florists, PGA golfers and Head Groundsmen.

This practical approach has enabled thousands of students to gain employment within their chosen industry. Myerscough has helped launch numerous careers across a range of industries. We have an illustrious list of alumni, many of whom are leading industry professionals, including Premier League footballers, conservation experts, animal counsellors, PGA golfers, World Rally Championship technicians and Head Groundsmen at a number of top sporting venues around the world.
Myerscough College continues to develop its reputation for research, both in government and academic circles. This is highlighted by our popular annual research conference which showcases our work. Teaching and learning is underpinned by research activity and we have a strong commitment to original research. Research within the College is focused on the four specialist areas of sport and human performance, plant stress, sustainability and equine science. Currently we are funding 17 research projects.
Myerscough College is set in 600 hectares of beautiful green countryside and provides outstanding teaching resources, alongside excellent sports facilities and a dedicated Higher Education centre. We strive to provide students with industry standard facilities and have recently invested in excess of £14 million on campus developments. The College has two commercial farms, an International Equine Arena, a golf course and simulated Golf Academy Training Centre, the National Arboricultural Centre, engineering and motorsport workshops, a dedicated animal academy, a Plant Centre, sports fields (including a state-of-the-art 3G pitch) and an indoor Sports Academy, all of which are on site.
Over the past 15 years Myerscough’s Rural Business Centre has helped hundreds of new businesses to get started. We offer a wealth of support for innovative companies, to help them start-up and manage the growth process. The business centre works closely with a number of associate professionals who are able to provide specialist advice in a number of areas including investment, financial control and legal services. Alongside this support, we also provide excellent business facilities. The Rural Business Incubator offers affordable furnished offices with broadband internet access providing the ideal environment for business growth and development.
