Forensic Genetics

Forensic genetics involves the production, comparison and evaluation of DNA profiles in order to identify biological material, as well as relationships between individuals.

The University of Central Lancashire’s Forensic Genetics Group uses dedicated laboratories with the latest equipment to develop high quality research and forge productive links with international organisations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, overseas research institutes and other forensic providers.

In addition to our work at the University we also provide consultancy services to external agencies such as the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
