If you’re a professional working in the fields of social work and social care then our Professional Development and Practice course offers you the ideal opportunity to enhance your knowledge and advance your career.

This course is especially suited for social work and social care practitioners working in child, adult and mental health care. It’s also a great development opportunity for anyone working in areas such as youth offending services (YOS), homeless services, domestic violence, learning disabilities and substance misuse.

If you’re a social worker, this course will provide evidence of your Continuing Professional Development, in order to meet Social Work England requirements for renewing your registration.

You'll study three modules, from a choice of six, to gain the full award. Modules range from those relevant to newly-qualified practitioners or those returning to the profession, to those aimed at more experienced practitioners looking to undertake new, specialist roles, for instance, Best Interest Assessor or Practice Educator.

The nature of your learning experience will be determined by the modules you’ve chosen. It’s likely that your university-based learning will involve attending keynote lectures and tutorials as well as taking part in e-learning tasks and self-directed learning.

You’ll be required to link formal learning to your everyday practice, building on your existing skills and knowledge.

Assessment methods will include essays, presentations, case studies, practice observation, reflective writing, practice portfolios and personal development files.
