University applauds Super League Champions
The University of Central Lancashire is offering congratulations to its official partner Wigan Warriors following the club’s success in the 2016 Super League Grand Final against rivals Warrington Wolves.
The Warriors beat the Wires 12 - 6 in the final at Old Trafford to be crowned this season’s Super League Champions. As the ‘official university’ of Wigan Warriors, UCLan has worked with the club throughout the season to prepare and train the players to the highest standard. This includes pre-season fitness tests, video analysis support, strength and conditioning training and degree places for key staff members.
Dr Adrian Ibbetson, Head of the School of Sport and Wellbeing at UCLan, said: “Congratulations to Wigan in what was a very tight and exciting game to watch. We are in a very privileged position to work so closely with the club and see the players develop throughout the season. We are already looking forward to working with Wigan as they prepare to defend their title next year.”
UCLan’s association with Wigan began in 2009, and over the last seven years students have also benefited from the relationship by being able to work closely with staff and players.
