A free talk about harmful foods and household items to popular household pets is taking place at the University of Central Lancashire on 17 October
The health of cats and dogs is the topic of a free lecture taking place at the University of Central Lancashire.
Millions of people in the UK share their lives, their homes, and often their food with their pets, but there are many foods that shouldn’t be given to pets as they are harmful to them.
The free talk, by Karen Beech, a Teaching Fellow in the School of Veterinary Medicine, will explain the idea of poisons and why sometimes what is good for us is bad for our pets.
Karen, who teaches on the Veterinary Medicine & Surgery (BVMS) and Bioveterinary Sciences programmes, said: “Lots of people share food with their pets. You may give some scraps of meat to your cat or be forced to pay the ‘cheese tax’ to your dog whenever you cook, but there are lots of things our furry friends should never eat.
"My lecture will also cover what owners should do if they think their pet has eaten something they shouldn’t"
