Industrial Pharmaceutics student Abdullah Aljuraiban tells us his experience

After studying a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Abdullah enrolled on a Master’s programme at the University of Central Lancashire to study Industrial Pharmaceutics and describes his time in Preston as a beautiful year he will never forget.

"UCLan was my preferred destination of study for a couple of reasons; it offered the course that I needed to study in Industrial Pharmaceutics and also I received good communications and service from the International Admissions Office during the application process, especially from Muhammed Musa. I felt good before arriving on the University of Central Lancashire campus because the University provided a free service of airport transportation from Manchester Airport which gave me a good impression and a great start from the beginning.

"The support offered from every single person at the University of Central Lancashire is really special, I only needed to ask and the required answer would be received. My tutors and professors, in particular Dr Abdullah Isreb and Dr Enoche Oga, were very helpful and supported us in the required areas."

During my course the most enjoyable parts were the industry visits to Rosemont Pharmaceuticals and Wockhardt Pharma and the research project in the third semester. The biggest difference with British education is the emphasis on research skills and how to improve thinking for new ideas.

I lived in Preston at Pendle Hall, one of the University's accommodation halls, where the experience was good and matched my expectations. Preston is a nice, quiet and safe city with all the requirements to live smoothly. It is very convenient and when living there I visited various other places, such as London, Liverpool and Windermere.

I enjoyed the weather, through both winter and summer and I would use my time away from studying to visit other cities and be with my friends. It’s really easy to meet new people because Preston is such a friendly place to live.

If you come to study at the University of Central Lancashire then you will enjoy your course and you will find all the required support from all University staff. I am thankful for a beautiful year that I will never forget".
