Aimee Riddell’s career is going from strength to strength after a stint working and studying at the University of Central Lancashire.

Business and Management graduate, Aimee, undertook a placement in the University’s HR department and used this as an opportunity to explore what she wanted to do as a career. Aimee said: “It was a fantastic experience that really firmed up my decision to continue with HR when I graduated.”
After graduating, Aimee was offered a role back in the University’s HR team covering a 12-month maternity leave post. She then fulfilled a number of contract roles lasting between six months and two years which allowed her to gain experience in different areas of HR. During this time, Aimee returned to study at the University and completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management in 2017.
During the course, Aimee took the opportunity to connect with other HR professionals and became an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). On a personal note, Aimee met her husband.
Aimee is now working for civil engineering company VolkerStevin, part of the VolkerWessels UK group, as HR Manager. Her role consists of managing a small team of HR professionals ensuring they support and coach line managers whilst achieving the strategic goals of the company’s people plan.
