Tanja Deakin
Tanja teaches Aviation subjects to future commercial pilots and Aerospace engineers. She supports the school in delivering commitments to teaching, innovation and knowledge exchange helping to secure the future operation of our undergraduate programmes.
Tanja has recently joined us after more than three decades working in industry whilst simultaneously being involved in teaching and training the following professional pilot generation. She has recently cemented her teaching passion by completing her PGCE in Education (M) Secondary MFL and gained Qualified Teacher Status endorsed by Ofsted and Ofqual.
Tanja started her professional career in the Public Health sector of the pharmaceutical industry as an Analytical Chemist in Switzerland. She has co-authored various publications about her team's research at the time. A career change into commercial aviation brought her to the UK, where she embarked on her aviation career in the airlines and last worked as an airline jet captain flying European short haul until she went to set about gaining her PGCE/QTS. Combining 2 passions, flying and teaching, she joined the school as a Senior Lecturer in Aviation.
