Bridget Martin - Academic Staff

From 1989 until her retirement in 2017 , Bridget taught Environmental Law to students on degree courses ranging from LLB Hons, Built Environment, Environmental Management, and Geography, to Conservation Biology and MSc Forensic and Conservation Genetics. As well as teaching Environmental (and Planning) Law generally, she specialized in Wildlife Law.

Although retired, Bridget continues with her research and writing on wildlife and its protection. Her book Survival or Extinction: How to Protect Elephants and Rhinos was published by Springer in 2019. She still supervises the occasional Project and Dissertation.

Bridget has participated in numerous Government Consultations on matters relating to wildlife law, as well as the Law Commission's consultation reviewing the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. She has been involved in matters relating to non-native species and the Non-Native Species Secretariat from its earliest days and regularly attends the annual Non-Native Species Stakeholder Forum. She is a member of ALAW.
