Dr Amanda Ross
Amanda is a Senior Lecturer, based in the Centre for Collaborative Learning. She works as part of the Academic Advancement Team. Amanda has a particular interest in incidental learning, a topic which she researched for her PHD. She has published widely on this topic and delivered at different conferences nationally.
Amanda joined us in 2023 and currently co-ordinates the fellowship CPD scheme. She supports staff who are working towards AFHEA, FHEA and SFHEA claims, through workshops and one-to-one mentoring. Amanda also leads the team of assessors and supporters through guided workshops and calibration events. Amanda has authored and co-authored education books, and a number of journal articles, on a range of pedagogical topics. Amanda is passionate about supporting early career educators who want to get published and has recently published about this topic.
Amanda is originally from Norfolk and began her career in education in 1996, after completing a first degree. She has extensive experience working in the Further Education sector, teaching and supporting neuro-diverse learners. Amanda held a number of teaching roles, before moving into a leadership role, as curriculum manager.
After completing her MA in Learning and Teaching, Amanda moved into a teacher education role in 2011 at the College of West Anglia. Here, she worked within the Education Development Team, leading the PGCE programmes and teaching across the MA in Education programme. Amanda relocated to the North West of England in 2014, when she secured a job at Bolton University managing the PGCE PCET programmes. She then moved into the staff development role, managing the PGC for professional staff programmes. Amanda continued in this role at Staffordshire university, before taking up the role as the coordinator of the fellowship programmes here at UCLan.
