Healthy University

About us

The Healthy University is a collaborative campus-wide effort towards making the University of Central Lancashire a better place to live, work and learn through a ‘whole system’ approach to wellbeing of people, place and planet.

This includes student engagement, representation and participation; working across faculties, schools and services; linking the University and Students’ Union strategies and plans; developing curriculum links; conducting research; connecting with wider community wellbeing; and being responsive to current and emerging public health and related agendas.

The Healthy University was established in 1995 and we have become a national and global leader in the field. Our Director of the Healthy & Sustainable Settings Unit co-ordinates and co-chairs the UK Healthy Universities Network and chairs the International Health Promoting Universities & Colleges Steering Group.

The Healthy University Plan for 2018-20 focused on a range of issues relevant to students and staff. This involved staff and students from across the University and brought benefits to the whole campus and its close neighbours. Discussions are currently taking place regarding the next phase of development, ensuring that we continue to prioritise the health and wellbeing of its community and retains its trailblazing position in the field.
