Business Management (Top-up)

This module provides an introduction to strategy and a range of models and theories so you can understand their use in different contexts. The focus is on the development of strategy and strategic concerns given that strategy is inextricably linked to the nature, structure, and success of business.

The aim of this module is to enable you to develop further your discipline-based knowledge and skills by undertaking research on a topic relevant to your course. The module provides you with the opportunity to plan and manage your own piece of research, integrating and applying knowledge from your studies.

This module aims to explore how management practice has evolved. You will chart the development of management theory throughout industrial history and observe how management has responded to contemporary drivers. You will use this knowledge to take a critical approach to management practice in a range of organisations.

Today’s professionals often act as change agents in their organisations. Therefore they are required to understand the drivers for change, the process of change and most importantly, the impact of change on all stakeholders – especially those internal to the organisation.

The Future of Work module will cover contemporary issues in international labour markets. This includes the ongoing issues that are changing the labour market landscape. These offer a range of topical research themes, based on both theoretical and applied policy studies.

This module will explore the key issues in sustainability, and ethics. It will encourage you to apply this knowledge to critically appraise the complex interactions and trade-offs between environmental, economic, and social objectives.

This module aims to provide an in-depth evaluation of applied psychology in the consumer context and to introduce some of the basic methods in the emerging field of consumer neuroscience and neuromarketing.
