Students will explore the issues around societal attitudes towards older people and ageing, systems of care, the ageing process, age-related illnesses, and how this creates complexity in relation to fundamental aspects of care.

Course overview

The module will be structured around the use of key lectures to provide the context for and support of module themes. The module will use focused group work and class discussions within face to face tutor time. Throughout the module a range of external speakers and service users will be invited to speak to the student group demonstrating contemporary approaches to working with the frail older adult.

The module will be delivered using a blended learning approach. The core of the module delivery mode is a series of face to face tutor-led or group-led seminars or workshops.
