Suman Ravi John
Suman has more than 9 years of clinical and teaching experience in the field of audiology and speech language pathology. Suman has collaborated in various training programs and knowledge exchange programs with other members of the allied health faculty and has interest in reading and research in advanced technology in hearing aid and cochlear implants.
Suman joined us as a Lecturer in Audiology in May 2023. His responsibilities include teaching and tutorial guidance, research, examining students, curriculum development, and administration.
Suman has more than 9 years of clinical and teaching experience in the field of audiology and speech language pathology. During this course of time, he was engaged in national projects, conducting hearing screening camps and development of training and curriculum development for graduate students.
To illustrate in detail, Suman was appointed as a chief Audiologist and Speech Language Pathologist in the district of Ernakulam, Kerala, India. In this role, he was responsible for training field health workers in identifying children between the age of 0 - 18 years with speech and hearing defects in the inner regions of the districts who did not have access to such treatments in the regions and providing them with free treatment.
Suman also has published the article Small Fenestra Stapedotomy versus Large Fenestra Stapedectomy in improving hearing ability in patients with Otosclerosis – Our 10-year experience (Indian J Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg 71, 304 – 308 (2019).
Suman has presented ‘Varied Videonystagmography findings in Meniere’s Disease’ at Global convention on safe sound, SNHL and Vertigo organized by IMA (Indian Medical Association), RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) AOI (Association of Otorhinolaryngologists) IAOHNS (Indian Association of Head and Neck Surgeons) NISS (National Initiative for Safe Sound) held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Suman has also organised a number of academic CPD courses for graduate students on varied topics such a Adult Neurogenic Disorders, Dysphagia and Vestibular disorders.
