
Dr Hettie Thomas

Hettie is a veterinary surgeon who has worked across a range of sectors including private veterinary practice, for charitable organisations and in academia. Hettie has a particular interest in musculoskeletal anatomy, locomotion and rehabilitation medicine. She has a masters degree in equine science and a clinical PhD focusing on dairy cattle lameness.
Hettie is responsible for the development of the MSc programme in Veterinary Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Medicine. She also teaches across the BVMS and Bioveterinary Science courses.
Hettie graduated from the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002 and worked in equine and small animal practice. Following this, she returned to the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh to complete her MSc in Equine Science. She then moved into academia, teaching in veterinary and allied sciences and gaining a clinical PhD from the University of Nottingham, School of Veterinary Medicine and Science in 2016.
Most recently, Hettie lectured in comparative and clinical anatomy at the University of Bristol. Hettie's particular interest in locomotion and rehabilitation medicine has led her to undertake additional qualifications in Veterinary Physiotherapy and Small Animal Hydrotherapy which will feed into her future teaching and research here.
