Dr Tim Sanders

Senior Clinical Lecturer in Rural Medicine

Dr Tim Sanders is a GP in Appleby-in-Westmorland. Alongside his clinical role, he is a Clinical Lecturer in Rural Medicine for UCLan. He also co-ordinates the clinical teaching programme for Cumbria Health on Call. He is a GP appraiser and Mental Health Act Section 12 approved GP. When he is not working, he can be found walking and running in the mountains and enjoying family adventures in the campervan.

As a Senior Lecturer at the National Centre for Remote and Rural Medicine at our Westlakes Campus in Whitehaven, Tim leads the MSc Mountain Medicine programme and contributes to the MSc Urgent Care programme. He is also developing the MSc Rural & Remote Medicine programme. He is also the Pastoral, Well-being and Safety tutor for the Westlakes campus.

Tim has a background in Medical Education, having worked as a GP Training Programme Director on the North Cumbria GP Training Programme for 10 years before he started working for UCLan.
