Bridget has over 20 years of experience teaching Psychology and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to undergraduate and foundation students. Since joining the School, Bridget has completed her Certificate in Medical Education. Her area of interest is the application of psychological principles to the study of health behaviour.
Delivering on the SSC project component, she supports students to undertake independent research and critically appraise the evidence base for the use of non-pharmacological interventions in the management of patients with a chronic illness. Bridget uses her EAP skills to facilitate the development of research and critical writing skills in medical students.
Bridget is the Assessment Lead for the School of Medicine and Dentistry. This team oversee the delivery of high stakes practical and MCQ based assessments across multiple campuses. She is Chair of the Assessment Subcommittee and was a key member of the project team to deliver successful GMC accreditation as a fully licensed medical school. In 2023, she was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s award for Authentic Assessment.
Bridget has held a variety of managerial positions, leading foundation courses and developing Psychology and study skills curricula for international students. In her previous role she was Subject Leader for Psychology across a network of UK Foundation campuses, leading the development of Psychology teaching and assessment material.
She has previously worked as an English language teacher in Hungary and Canterbury where she taught and developed material with a particular focus on Academic English. In both her current and previous roles, she has attended high school fairs and delivered teaching workshops overseas for prospective students.
