Overview

If you are from a low income household our Financial Bursary may be able to help. This support is provided in instalments, made across the academic year directly into your student bank account. The Scheme awards £500 in each year of study.

How is the value received?

We award £500 per year of study and £750 for Year 3 for eligible students. Payments will be made in two instalments each year, once eligibility has been confirmed and your bank details submitted to us. The first instalment will typically be processed at the end of November and the second at the end of February, to those students who are eligible at the time. Follow up payments will be made periodically after the first and second instalments to any students who become eligible or submit their bank details after the deadline for each payment. (eligible students starting on programmes that begin in March will be processed at the end of May and August).

In order to be assessed as eligible for the Scheme you must meet the following criteria:

  • Paying the maximum tuition fee
  • Studying at our main or Burnley Campus sites
  • Studying full-time on an eligible undergraduate degree programme
  • Have an assessed household income of under £20,000 from Student Finance England / Northern Ireland / Student Awards Agency for Scotland (Not available in Wales)

How to apply

There is no direct application that needs to be made to be assessed for the Scheme. You must have applied to Student Finance to have your household income assessed, and you must register your bank details with us in order to be assessed for the Scheme. When applying for household income assessments both you and your sponsors (parents, guardians etc) must consent that Student Finance can share your data with us.

Once you have completed enrolment with us, the academic year has begun, and we receive confirmation of household income from Student Finance we will then begin assessing you for eligibility. You will receive an email to your University email address confirming your eligibility as each payment approaches.
