‘Watch this space’ show to showcase lunar theme with local models

UCLan students will take to the skies next week when they unveil a truly cosmic take on the world of fashion.

The ‘Watch this Space ‘show, to be staged at Venue 53, Fylde Road on Thursday, 14 November, has been inspired by the 50th anniversary this year of the first moon landings and will take a giant leap into the cosmos with a series of stunning new fashion designs created by students at the university.

"The show will have a great futuristic feel to it with some really eye-catching designs which should hopefully get people thinking more about space, astrology and the cosmos."

A special catwalk show at the event will be themed around the 12 signs of the zodiac, with models each showcasing designs which reflect a different cosmic sign.

Other exhibits at the show will feature a special lunar and outer space theme. Many of the garments featured in the show will have been sourced locally and styled by the students themselves.

Instagram artist ‘The Girl who Draws Things’ will also be producing specially themed sketches of guests at the show during the evening.

In addition representatives from the Boss Model Management agency will also be at the event scouting for new talent.

Nicola Palmer, Senior Lecturer in Fashion Promotion at UCLan, said: “This will literally be an out of this world show for visitors and a perfect way to showcase the student work and talent that UCLan fashion are has to offer.”

“The students have worked tirelessly to produce this and we are excited so ‘watch this space’!”

Nicola adds: “The show will have a great futuristic feel to it with some really eye-catching designs which should hopefully get people thinking more about space, astrology and the cosmos.”
