Scott Keay receives accolade for his work with Lancashire Constabulary
A PhD student from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has received an international award in recognition of his work at Lancashire Constabulary.
Scott Keay, who is also a senior crime analyst with Lancashire Constabulary, has received the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts (IALEIA) Award for Excellence, following his paper on the role of an analyst and how evidence-based policing can help to tackle crime.
The academic paper has been published and has since received international praise, with recognition from police forces around the world including America and Australia.
Speaking about his paper, Scott expressed his delight at being recognised for his work and hopes that his findings can continue to have an impact on a wider audience.
He said: “The growing emphasis on evidence-based policing, where police forces improve the scientific rigour of research and analysis to support police decision-making, is becoming more important than ever before, in particular during times of budget cuts and greater public scrutiny."
Stuart Kirby, Professor in Policing at UCLan, voiced his praise for Scott.
He said: “Scott is doing a part time PhD looking at ‘How do the police identify, define and respond to vulnerability.’ This is something which I think is a really interesting and contemporary issue for police across the world.”
