Research Associate Amy Dean is looking for public contributions for her community film

A University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) researcher is looking for people to reveal what they love about the red rose county.

Amy Dean, a Research Associate for Media Practice, is organising the ‘Show us what you love about Lancashire’ community film, as part of the upcoming Lancashire Encounter Festival.

She is looking for participants to send in photos or video clips or visit her in one of the video locations around the county.

Amy said: “I can’t wait to hear all the different reasons why people love Lancashire so I’m looking for as many people to contribute as possible. I will also be going out around Lancashire to film people and to capture their thoughts. I do not want technology to be a barrier.”

Participating in the project is free and you can submit either a photo or a maximum 20-second film clip. Within the videos, you must introduce yourself and then proceed to share what you love about Lancashire.

If selected, your submission will be shown as part of the Lancashire Encounter Festival, which is taking place in Preston’s Harris Museum between 21 and 23 September.

You can submit anything that has a connection to Lancashire, such as cycling Preston’s Guild Wheel, working with colleagues or friends at a county-based business, visiting one of Lancashire’s many beauty spots or someone who loves the variety of locally produced foods.

You can submit your photo entries via email, and videos by a downloadable link. Entries should be emailed to

lancashirefilm@outlook.com by Friday 31 August.

You will need to provide your name, location in Lancashire, email address and contact number within the email, as part of the submission process. By submitting content, you automatically give your permission for its use and that you waiver any rights to the content as part of your submission for the community film.

Content which is deemed explicit or offensive will not be accepted.
