University rises up Centre for World University Rankings for third year running
The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has boosted its global reputation by rising up a prestigious world university league table.
The Centre for World University Rankings 2017 (CWUR) has listed UCLan in the top 3.3% of universities worldwide, a 0.4% improvement on last year’s score. It is ranked 903 out of more than 27,000 degree-granting institutions of higher education around the globe, the highest level ever achieved by the University in this particular table.
UCLan was rated highly for its quality of education, which measures the number of academics who have won major international awards, prizes, and medals, and its alumni employment rank; measured by the number of alumni who have held CEO positions at the world's top companies relative to the University's size. Another stand-out area is the number of highly-cited research papers academics produce.
"This is the third year in a row that the University of Central Lancashire has improved its status in this particular table, which chimes with our steady improvement in national league tables here in the UK."
UCLan Vice-Chancellor Professor Mike Thomas commented: “It is great news to see the University rise up such a prestigious global table and in particular, rank so highly in areas relating to education quality and graduate employment prospects. The CWUR publishes the only global university ranking that measures the quality of education and training of students as well as the prestige of the faculty members and the quality of their research.
