Collaborative framework signed in Nicosia
The University of Central Lancashire (Cyprus) and the country’s Ministry of Defence have agreed a landmark framework to collaborate on a wide range of exciting education, training and research programmes.
On 30 June 2017, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between UCLan Cyprus and the Ministry of Defence at the Ministry in Nicosia.
Professor Melinda Tan, Rector of UCLan Cyprus, signed the Memorandum on behalf of the University while the Minister of Defence, Christoforos Fokaides, provided his signature on behalf of the Cypriot Ministry of Defence.
Commenting on the new collaboration Professor Tan said: “This is a very exciting development for us and already we have discussed a number of areas where we can share and exchange knowledge within the areas of education, training and research.
“The University is now well established in Cyprus where we are being seen as a force for good among all the island’s diverse communities. I am confident that this will be the first of many such initiatives as we have a lot to offer in terms of world-class academic expertise and highly motivated graduate talent.”
The broad objective of the memorandum framework is to enable the dissemination of continuous professional development programmes to the members of the Cyprus Army and the Ministry, offering specialised modules or seminars to the Army’s executives and soldiers.
